The 80s was the time when Hindi remakes of South Indian films started coming in and Hero Heroin's flamboyant dance began to gain more space and the melody was heavily populated. Even Kishore Kumar, very close to R D Burman, was now singing second-rate songs for new musicians, it was very difficult for R D Burman to see all this and he was not very happy. Kishore Kumar's death in 1987 hurt RD Burman even more, he broke badly.
