Anti-government protest in Hong Kong marks first anniversary

One year ago -- on June 12th, 2019 -- a second reading of the now withdrawn extradition bill was delayed after huge crowds rallied, blocked major roads and attempted to storm the Government Headquarters in Hong Kong.

Police used tear gas, rubber bullets and bean bag rounds in clashes with protesters for the first time since protests erupted against the bill, marking the beginning of a months long turmoil which has rocked the city.
