A motorcyclist knocked over by the metal girders carried by two workers walking across a road in Thailand.

The man was travelling along the highway in Narathiwat, southern Thailand on June 3 when the unexpected hazard emerged in his path.

CCTV footage shows the two builders holding the long metal bars as they wait for vehicles to pass.

However, while there were halfway to the other side a motorcycle came hurting towards them and failed to notice the construction equipment.

The worker at the back tried lifting the bar at the last second before impact but it was not enough to prevent the motorcycle rider from being clotheslined.

The injured motorcyclist was checked by the workers who called an ambulance and visited him at the hospital.

The police said the injured motorbike rider and the builders would have to discuss the accident and sort out any compensation between themselves.

Police Colonel Suthavet Thareethai said: "I have watched the video of the crash and it's quite clear that it was an accident.

"The two parties will have to negotiate themselves about paying for costs and if they can't come to an agreement, I will have to be involved, but I don't want to.''
