The city of Yamato near the Japanese capital Tokyo is considering a law that would ban people from using their phones while walking. A bill submitted to the city’s assembly on June 1, 2020, only aims to raise awareness about the danger of such behaviour and specifies no punishment for lawbreakers. If passed, the new law would go into effect from July 1.
