On June 4 in 1993, during the Ashes Test series Warne clean bowled Gatting off the first ball he bowled at the Old Trafford. Warne's leg-spinner pitched outside leg and turned almost square to knock off the off stump and leave Gatting and even umpire Dickie Bird stunned with his delivery. Shane Warne finished with figures of 4/51 and 4/86 in the first and second innings respectively. Australia won the Test by 179 runs and Warne was adjudged ‘man of the match’.
