Rescuers in Thailand rescued a pet boar after it fell into an abandoned drainage hole.

The 440lbs (200kg) animal caused concern when it went missing from its field in Trat, eastern Thailand last Thursday morning (May 28).

The boar's owner Navee Kawet searched for the eight-year-old female named Muwhan and eventually found her lying in a three foot deep hole.

Several friends were unable to lift the boar because it was too heavy so they contacted the emergency services.

Footage shows the rescue volunteers trying the boar and pulling it with a pole but it wriggled out of the lasso so the rescuers had to start again.

On the second attempt, they finally removed the beast from the disused drainage hole. The owner then showered his tired pet and gave her a big meal.

The relieved owner said he lets his pet roam around his land because she prefers open spaces instead of the pen.

Navee said: "She usually stays in the field were she has freedom to walk around but I started worrying when I hadn't seen her for a while.

''I think it was just an accident so I'll let her roam freely again, but I'll check for holes and cover them''
