Video has emerged of protesters jumping onto the front of a moving semi-tanker that hurtled towards a crowd of peaceful protestors in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Sunday (May 31).

The video shows a protester appearing to try to kick down the windscreen by swinging into it with his feet. Another protester jumps onto the semi as it's moving.

Projectiles, including a bicycle, rain down on the moving tanker.

The incident was captured by a protester at the scene, who told Newsflare: "It happened on I-35W on the bridge between St Paul and Minneapolis. Thousands had gathered for a 10k March for George Floyd.

"The crowd had just finished stopping to kneel when people started screaming and running. I took off running and looked back and saw a semi-tanker truck barreling through the crowd.

"As it began to slow down, some of the protestors started jumping onto the truck and breaking the windows yelling 'he almost killed us' and pulled the driver out of the truck. Some were hitting him while others were pulling people off saying 'this is not what we’re about.'

"Shortly after the police arrived and some were maxing people along the way as they got on the ramp entering the interstate."

US media reported that the driver, Bogdan Vechirko, has since been charged with assault, citing records at the Hennepin County Jail. US media also reported that a mugshot of Vechirko shows what appear to be minor injuries to his nose and eyes.
