On this day in 1974 the scene where Bond navigates the klongs of Bangkok was filmed for THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. The sequence included the return of LIVE AND LET DIE’s Sheriff J.W. Pepper (Clifton James). “I was surprised to be asked to reprise the role,” James remembers. “Cubby called me up and said, ‘Give me some ideas of what you think the character should be doing. He’s going to be on vacation’.”
