A rescue worker with a head for heights scaled the outside of a building to catch a snake that was eating a bat.

The resident living there, Hai Polprasit, 67, called for help when he saw the reptile dangling down from the building devouring the nocturnal creature.

A brave rescue worker clambered up the outside of the home to snare the golden tree snake in Trang, southern Thailand on Tuesday night (May 26).

GoPro footage from the man's helmet shows the rescuer reaching up to the snake on a gable outside the frightened resident's bedroom.

They easily caught 3ft long serpent before carrying it down to the ground below and showing it to the house owner to ease his fears.

The rescuer explained that this snake's poison is not so dangerous. He said: "These little snakes like to enter people's houses and find rats, geckos or bats to eat.

"However, they are not so dangerous to humans due to their mild venom but it still safer to let the rescue team deal with it them.''

The relieved owner said he had been disturbed by snake several times already.

He said: "Before this my pet bird went missing and I believe a snake had eaten it, perhaps it is the same one that was caught.''
