Medical waste quantity declines during pandemic in Thailand

A medical waste treatment facility in the outskirts of Bangkok has seen a fall in waste collection as hospitals try to limit contamination and patients have been avoiding hospitals in a country where medical tourism generates millions every year.
Krungthep Thanakom treatment plant says they collect toxic waste from over 3,500 hospitals and clinics before burning them at 1,000°C. The COVID-19 outbreak has not changed their process as strict safety measures were already in place.
