고3, 오늘 등교…80일 만에 교문 열려

High school seniors are finally going back to school this Wednesday.
But schools are taking strong measures to prevent COVID-19 as when other countries like France and Singapore repoened their schools, they saw a surge in new cases.
Let's hear more from our Jang Tae-hyun about how South Korea is reopening its classrooms. Eighty days after they were meant to start the spring semester, high school seniors finally returned to their classrooms this Wednesday.
They were greeted by their teachers, some of whom they have never met in person.
Wearing a face mask is mandatory, and a thermal imaging camera at the entrance will check that students' temperatures are below 37-point-five degrees Celsius.
High school seniors are starting classes first because they have to prepare for the college entrance exam.
"I'm excited to be here at school and meet friends, but I'm a little worried about catching up with my studies."
"The college entrance exam has been delayed and the result will depend on how much we studied."
Students back in school are happy to meet their friends again, but some are worried about the college entrance exam.
Some 450-thousand seniors will be heading to classrooms nationwide today, and the reopening of schools for the remaining grades will take place in stages through June 8th.
During class, students and teachers must wear face masks and use hand sanitizer.
At the cafeteria, dividers have been installed to prevent contact between students.
Also, unlike before, when students had classes long into the evening, school will now end in the early afternoon.
Even when going home, students must keep their distance from each other.
When anyone in school is confirmed to have coronavirus, the school will be shut and students will take online classes until further notice.
