Traffic jams in the Philippines as residents return to work after months of coronavirus lockdown
  • 4 years ago
The first day of work after months of coronavirus quarantine resulted in a massive traffic jam in one of the busiest roads in the Philippines.

Footage shows heavy traffic building up in Eastbank Road Cainta on May 18, the first Monday after the enhanced community quarantine has been lifted in several cities in the region.

Onlooker Mark Jenver Maurice said "We live beside the highway so we always see heavy traffic every morning but we were shocked at how bad it was today. I think it's going to take some time before everything goes back to the way it was."

The Philippines has implemented different Covid-19 quarantine status in the country based on the region's coronavirus risk level to be reviewed again on May 31.
