Aiden Markram on Monday expressed his desire to lead South Africa in Tests but at the same time insisted that it will not be the end of the world for him if he isn’t given the top job. After veteran batsman Faf du Plessis resigned from captaincy across all three formats, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has been in a lurch, trying to find a suitable leader for the longest format of the game. टेस्ट टीम के बल्लेबाज एडेन मार्क्रम ने कप्तान बनने की इच्छा जाहिर की है. हलांकि उनका मानना है कि अगर उन्हें कप्तानी नहीं मिलती है तो उनके लिए दुनिया का अंत नहीं हो जाएगा. वहीं दूसरी तरफ दक्षिण अफ्रीका के क्रिकेट निदेशक ग्रीम स्मिथ ने क्विंटन डी कॉक को टेस्ट कप्तानी सौंपने से इन्कार किया है जिसके बाद कई अन्य खिलाड़ी इस पद की दौड़ में शामिल हो गये हैं. ऐसे में मार्क्रम ने ‘स्पोर्ट24’ से कहा, ‘‘मैंने अपने देश की कप्तानी करने के बार में कभी बहुत अधिक नहीं सोचा. यह हमेशा मेरे लिये अंधेरे में तीर चलाने जैसा रहा है. लेकिन जब समाचार लिखने वाले लोगों के दिमाग में मेरा नाम आ रहा है तो यह जानकर अच्छा लगता है कि मेरे नाम पर भी विचार हो रहा है. मुझे यह पसंद होगा.’’
