Its only April and the intense heatwave seems to have gripped the entire Northern India already. The summer is at its peak and parts of Northwest India, like Punjab and Haryana including Delhi and NCR are reeling under intense heatwave.

In the last few days temperature has been soaring over 40 degree Celsius mark. This intense heatwave can be attributed to westerly winds from Central Pakistan.

The hot weather in 2016 had claimed 700 lives, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.
