A World War II naval mine was successfully detonated at sea with the help of local police and experts.

The spectacular video, shot in the city of Zhangzhou in Fujian Province on May 13, shows a diver diving into the sea to attach 1.5-ton emulsion explosives onto the 50-centimetre-diametre and 490-kilogram mine.

According to reports, the naval mine remained from the Second Sino-Japanese War, which is around 80 years ago.

The detonation of the naval mine cleared the dangerous obstacle for marine navigation.
