A new study reveals a drug meant to treat rheumatoid arthritis may be of help to patients struggling to breathe due to the novel coronavirus.
According to UPI, Anakinra has been used off-label to treat patients who developed acute respiratory distress syndrome caused by COVID-19.
ARDS is the main cause of death from COVID-19.
The drug is the latest prescription medication developed for another purpose to be evaluated for use in treating COVID-19.
