New York City Ends 24-Hour Subway
Service to Disinfect Trains and Buses Governor Andrew Cuomo announced
the decision on Thursday as the city
attempts to further flatten the curve. Governor Andrew Cuomo, via news briefing Cuomo noted that the 4-hour period has the
lowest ridership, though overall ridership has
dropped 92% since the city was put on pause. Prior to the decision, subway cars
were cleaned every 72 hours. The MTA will continue to provide buses
and compliant “dollar vans” to essential
workers during those hours.
