U.S. President Trump says he has rejected the sum that South Korea has offered to pay toward defense costs.
Speaking at a White House news conference on Monday, he said... Seoul has offered Washington a certain amount of money and he has rejected it.
He added... the U.S. wants Seoul to pay "a big percentage"... and it's a question of whether Seoul will contribute to defending its own nation.
Calling South Korea a very rich country, Trump stressed that the U.S. has been protecting South Korea for over 80 years and Seoul's payment of 1-billion dollars a year is just a portion of the entire costs.
