In the city of Lakhimpur, northern India two animal-loving police officers have been feeding stray monkeys and cows on a daily basis.

Chandrakant Singh said, "This is tough time for everyone and we must come forward to help."

According to local media, many wild animals that usually rely on food provided by humans, are going hungry.

All major cities in India have been named COVID-19 'red zone' hotspots.

This footage was recorded on April 12.
