After the police emptied the stadium, play resumed in front of 200 people in one of the most rare scenes ever witnessed at the Eden Gardens.

साल 1999 की बात है. एशियन टेस्ट चैंपियनशिप में भारत और पाकिस्तान की टीमें आमने-सामने थी. मैदान ईडन गार्डेन का था. दोनों टीमों के लिए ये मैच काफी अहम था. वैसे भी, जब भी भारत और पाकिस्तान की टीमें आमने-सामने होती है. तो रोमांच और दर्शकों का जोश अपने चरम पर होता है. उस वक्त सचिन तेंदुलकर अपने करियर के बेस्ट फॉर्म में थे. हर कोई सचिन को देखने ले लिए स्टेडियम में आया था. शुरूआती के चार दिन तो स्टेडियम में दर्शक 70 हजार से ज्यादा के तादाद में पहुंचे थे. लेकिन, पांचवें दिन खाली स्टेडियम में मैच खत्म हुआ. लेकिन, ऐसा क्यों हुआ. दरअसल, सचिन के आउट होते ही दंगा शुरू हो गया था. शायद क्रिकेट इतिहास में बहुत कम ऐसे मौके आए हैं. जब दर्शकों ने उत्पात मचाना शुरू कर दिया.
