India’s nationwide coronavirus lockdown is doing wonders for air quality

India normally is home to some of the world’s most polluted cities, but a nationwide coronavirus lockdown has restored blue skies and cleaner air to many parts of the country. The lockdown starting March 25, 2020, has closed factories and kept cars off the roads leading to dramatic reductions in air pollution. Environmental activists hope the Indian government will take note of the change and rethink policies on emissions and industrial development.
