10 best Premier League stars to never win title

Unlike other European countries that prioritise winning the Champions League over their own domestic competition, in England it's all about the Premier League.

Winning the title is revered above all else, but doing so is easier said then done - unless you're one of these chaps, of course.

Over the years the trophy has been lifted by such legends of the game including Vincent Kompany, Roy Keane, and Patrick Vieira.

But there have been a number of players - more than good enough to win the competition - who never got the chance to lift the Premier League trophy aloft.

Here are 10 of them.

Steven Gerrard
We'll start with the obvious.
The Liverpool legend spent 17 years playing in the Premier League and was regarded as one of the greatest individuals to ever grace a football pitch.
He was a key part of the Reds team that won the 2005 Champions League, and would regularly win matches by himself in the league.

But his loyalty to Liverpool while Manchester United,Arsenal and Chelsea enjoyed success around the Reds meant he never tasted Premier League glory.

Matt Le Tissier
Le Tissier is a rightfully regarded a legend at Southampton - a club he loved, and continues to love to this day.

The Guernsey-born forward scored exactly 100 goals in the 10 years he represented the Saints, some of which were sublime.
But his love for Southampton - who, for the most part were battling against relegation - meant he never tested himself at a higher level and, as a result, never won the title.

Gianfranco Zola
A little magician, Zola ensured the rest of the division started taking Chelsea seriously when he arrived on these shores in 1996.

The Italian went on to represent the Blues for seven season, stunning football fans with moments of technical brilliance.
But his time at Stamford Bridge came just before the Roman Abramovich era.

And despite the Russian's love for Zola - he offered him £3million to remain at Chelsea for one more season when he took over as chairman - he couldn't convince him to stay.

Fernando Torres
At one point Torres was easily the best striker in the Premier League.

The then-Liverpool star had everything; he could score from anywhere in and around the box, he was physically imposing, great in the air, technically sublime, and could beat a defender for pace.

But the Reds just were not competing for major honours during this time.
Torres eventually completely a £50million move to Chelsea, where he won the Champions League.

But in a total of seven seasons in the Premier League, the title eluded him.

Luis Suarez
Liverpool snapped up Andy Carroll as a replacement for Torres, but it was the 'signing on the side' of Suarez that would go down as one of the club's greatest ever purchases.

The Uruguayan striker only spent four seasons in the Premier League with Liverpool, which is less than most on this list. But what he achieved in his short time in England is not to be sniffed at; he nearly won the Reds the title by himself in 2014.
