During the lockdown in Varanasi, profiteering and black marketing are now underway. District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhakar Chaudhary reached the grocery and vegetable shops on Monday morning to buy goods on their own. Many shops asked for the rate of goods in turn. Immediate action was also initiated against the shopkeepers who reported prices above the fixed rate. Nine shopkeepers have been arrested and sent to jail.

वाराणसी में लॉकडाउन के दौरान मुनाफाखोरी और कालाबाजारी करने वालों की अब शामत आ गई है। जिलाधिकारी कौशल राज शर्मा और वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधीक्षक प्रभाकर चौधरी सोमवार की सुबह आम ग्राहकों की तरह खुद किराना और सब्जी की दुकानों पर सामान खरीदने पहुंच गए। बारी बारी से कई दुकानों पर सामान का रेट पूछा। जिन दुकानदारों ने तय रेट से ज्यादा कीमत बताई उनके खिलाफ तत्काल कार्रवाई भी शुरू करा दी। नौ दुकानदारों को गिरफ्तार कर जेल भेजा गया है। इससे पहले डीएम औऱ एसएसपी देर रात साइकिल स्वामी मठ में सुविधाओं का पता लगाने पहुंचे थे।
