One of the first things you do in a home renovation is demolition.
It is useful, especially when you're first starting off, to do the demolition yourself.
A) it is the easiest way to save a little money and not have to have a lot of skill in construction.
B) You are able to decide if you want to save certain materials that you are demolishing, a demolition crew would not take the time to save them.
For example, whenever you doing demo, it is a good idea to save the old trim and baseboard.
All though not extremely expensive trim and baseboard can run up your final rehab cost.
As you are the one that doing demo you are able to make sure to label the trim correctly by bedroom and bundle it so it does not get lost during the rest of the demolition and remodeling.
I do not advise investing the time in preparing the trim and baseboard for immediate installation. Instead, hold off until the very last and make your decision then.
If you do not need to reuse old trim and baseboard then don't, it is easier just to purchase and install new trim and base.
