First day of lockdown in Greece after COVID-19 cases rise

On Sunday (March 22) Greece announced a lockdown, restricting movement from Monday morning.

The filmer told Newsflare: "Since 6 a.m. police have been conducting ongoing controls across the country to monitor the implementation of the traffic ban measure, aimed at limiting the spread of coronavirus."

Footage from Thessaloniki, Greece's second largest city, on Monday (March 23) shows police officers asking citizens for the relevant document that permits them to be outside.
