More than a billion people in India asked to stay indoors for 14-hour curfew to fight coronavirus

India was under a 14-hour curfew on Sunday, March 22, 2020. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a voluntary “people’s curfew” on March 19 in an effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Starting Monday, March 23, the nation was also locking down large areas of the country until at least the end of the month. All but essential services will be suspended, and most train services will be halted.
