Holi 2020 will be witness to the second-closest supermoon of the year. This year's Holi will kick off with the second-closest supermoon of the year gracing the skies tonight, March 9. Holi's phalgun purmina is always a full moon, but a supermoon is a rare occurrence. As per the Hindu month Phalgun, the full moon (Poornima) will correspond with the festival of colours — Holi, which will fall on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 — the day when people in India play with colours, dry colours and coloured water. The day before Holi, March 09, will be celebrated as ‘Holika Dahan’, or the day people traditionally burn a bonfire and play with dry colours and dust in some parts of the country.

इस बार रंगों का त्योहार होली उत्साह और जश्न में गुजरेगा तो रात में पूरा रोमांच होगा। इसकी वजह बेहद खास है, इस दिन चांद अपने सबसे बड़े आकार में और चमकीला होगा। दरअसल होली के दिन फाल्गुन मास की पूर्णिमा के कारण चांद ' सुपरमून ' बन जाएगा। ये चांद न सिर्फ आकार में बड़ा और चमकीला होगा, बल्कि ये अपनी रोशनी से धरती को जगमगाता रहेगा। इस दिन चांद धरती के एकदम पास होगा। होली के दिन पूर्णिमा का चांद और पूर्णिमा के दिनों की तुलना में 14 फीसद बड़ा और 28 फीसद अधिक चमकीला होगा। वहीं इस बार चांद पूरी तरह से गोल न होकर दीर्घ वृत्ताकार में होगा।
