The Type One Diabetics More Likely To 'Flourish' As Adults

In treating Type 1, or 'juvenile onset' diabetes, insulin and blood sugar monitoring are key.
However, a new study has found that a stable and nurturing home environment also may help long-term health in those with the disease.
According to UPI, researchers noted that Type 1 diabetics were more likely to 'flourish' as adults if they came from loving homes.
They found that participants' with the highest flourishing scores were those who had the highest levels of family connection during childhood.
Those with the lowest scores -- or those adults struggling mentally and physically -- were in the lower family connection group.
Type 1 diabetes is typically diagnosed in childhood and affects nearly 4 million Americans.
