China sentences Hong Kong bookseller Gui Minhai to 10 years in jail

A Chinese court has sentenced Hong Kong bookseller Gui Minhai to 10 years in prison for “providing intelligence overseas”. The Swedish national was one of the five booksellers detained on the mainland for selling banned books in 2015.  In a statement released February 24, 2020, the court said in addition to his prison term, Gui will be deprived of political rights for five years and that he will not appeal the verdict.
