PRO of Jamia Millia Islamia, Ahmad Azeem, responded to the viral footage of varsity’s library from December 15 2019, which has been surfacing on the social media. Azeem said, “Prima facie, the CCTV footage seems to be of MPhil and PhD section in Dr. Zakir Husain Library. We have also come to know that the footage has been released by Jamia Coordination Committee. Delhi Police is investigating the case.” The video shows policemen thrashing students who were studying in the library at the time. Special Commissioner (Crime), Praveer Ranjan said that cognizance of the video has been taken and an investigation will be done.
