Delhi Police Crime Branch succeeds in extraditing bookie Sanjeev Chawla from UK

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has succeeded in bringing back the fugitive Sanjeev Chawla, from London after 20 years. Chawla was wanted in the infamous cricket match fixing case of year 2000. In the year 1999, Anti-Extortion Cell of Crime Branch was investigating an extortion case. During investigation, it was revealed that some persons were conspiring to fix the India-South Africa Cricket Test Series to be played in the months of February-March, 2000 in connivance with the Captain of South African Cricket team Hansie Cronje. During the investigation, the three accused persons namely Rajesh Kalra, Krishan Kumar and Sunil Dara alias Bittoo were arrested. Accused Sanjeev Chawla was actively involved in the said case but had left India. Accused Sanjeev Chawla absconded and was hiding in UK since then.
