Rapeseed Oil (Canola Oil): Uses, Health Benefits, and Downsides-Nuturemite English
  • 4 years ago
Canola oil is a type of edible cooking oil that mostly comes from the varieties of mustard seeds and is produced by genetic modification.
Canola oil is known in certain areas of the world as rapeseed oil and typically comes in two varieties, Rapeseed 00 and Double Zero Rapeseed. The name rapeseed (canola) is derived from the Latin root rapum, which means turnip. Produced via genetic modification, canola oil is known for its high quantity of Omega 3 fatty acids. A group of Canada scientists used a method known as selective breeding to produce canola seeds from rapeseed (a yellow flowering member of the mustard or cabbage family). So, the name canola originates from Canada and ‘ola’ which means oil. Being rich in antioxidants, vitamins E, C and K, this oil comes with a wide range of beauty benefits.
