In an outspokenly critical interview, Deepak Nayyar, a former Chief Economic Advisor, former Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University and former Professor of Economics at JNU, has said “this is the wrong budget for the present circumstances”. Prof. Nayyar said “The budget was diffused, unclear and lacked direction.” He said that the economic situation facing India a year later in March 2021 “would be much the same”. Asked if there was a possibility that the situation could deteriorate, he said “it’s quite possible that the situation facing the country could be worse”.
