Hey, Friends,

Meet Vyom Mitra, ISRO's robot which will travel to space
“Vyom Mitra”-ISRO’s half Humanoid-An experimental mission of Gaganyaan
Vyom Mitra: Lady Robot for Gaganyaan
Recently, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) unveiled its first ‘woman’ astronaut, named Vyom Mitra who will ride to space in the first test flight of the human space mission, Gaganyaan.
First Indian 'woman' to ride to space
ISRO introduced Vyom Mitra at the “Human Space Flight and Exploration-Present Challenges and Future Trends” seminar that was held in Bengaluru. The robot is to fly in two unmanned mission that are planned in December 2020 and in June 2021.The robot can speak two languages namely Hindi and English. It can mimic human activities such as recognizing other humans and responding to their queries. The robot can handle switch panel operations. It is also capable of providing air pressure change warnings.
Gaganyaan mission In order to make the first human space flight programme, Gaganyaan successful, ISRO has been taking several initiatives. The food for the astronauts is being developed by the Defence Food Research Laboratory. The astronauts to travel to space received their training in Russia.
She is half-humanoid and her body stops at the torso and has no legs. She is capable of switching panel operations, performing Environment Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) functions, conversations with the astronauts, recognising them and solving their queries.
The humanoid can detect and give out warnings if the environment changes within the cabin.
She will simulate the human functions required for space before real astronauts take off before August 2022. She will be sent in a space capsule around the end of 2020 or early 2021 to study how astronauts respond to living outside earth in controlled zero-gravity conditions.
The humanoid has been developed by the ISRO Inertial Systems Unit, Thiruvananthapuram.
Vyommitra (Vyom Mitra; lit. Space friend) is a female spacefaring humanoid robot being developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation to function on-board the Gaganyaan, a crewed orbital spacecraft. Vyommitra was first unveiled on 22 January 2020 at the Human Spaceflight and Exploration symposium in Bengaluru.

It will accompany Indian astronauts in space missions and will also be a part of uncrewed experimental Gaganyaan missions prior to the manned spaceflight missions.
India aims not to fly animals onboard experimental missions unlike other nations that have carried out human space flight. Instead, it will fly humanoid robots for a better understanding of what weightlessness and radiation do to the human body during long durations in space.

Thanks for watching
