Charges against South Africa army major for wearing hijab with uniform have been withdrawn

The South African National Defence Force withdrew charges against Major Fatima Isaacs when she appeared before a military court at the Castle of Good Hope today (January 22).

Isaacs was charged for willful defiance and disobeying a lawful command for wearing the hijab with her military uniform.

Naziema Mohamed, a labour law consultant who formed part of the defence team for Isaacs, spoke to the media outside the Castle of Good Hope, after the charges were withdrawn.
