Training for a Marathon Can
Boost Heart Health, Study Says The analysis can be found in
the 'Journal of the American
College of Cardiology.' For the study, a group of people
who did not consider themselves to be
avid runners had to train for six months. Ages of the 138 subjects ranged
from 21 to 69 years old. They were given medical scans at the beginning and end of the training. According to the study's authors, subjects had notably less aortic artery stiffness at the end of the test. Study author Dr. Anish Bhuva, via NPR Study author Dr. Anish Bhuva says the
results have inspired him to take up running. Pennington Biomedical Research Center's Dr. Tim Church adds that the study's regimen can easily be done. Dr. Tim Church, via NPR
