Bhupinder Hooda says states can’t say no to CAA, but wants law’s legality tested

Congress leader and former Haryana CM, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, on Citizenship (Amendment) Act asserted that no state can deny to any law or act if passed by Parliament. “Once a law or act is passed by the Parliament, I think that the constitutional view is that, any state can’t and should not say no but this has to be legally examined,” said Bhupinder Singh.
Nation-wide protests have strengthened since the implementation of CAA in December 2019. According to the present government, the amended act promises to provide Indian citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants from three neighbouring countries i.e., Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
