U.S.-China tech war overshadows ‘phase one’ trade deal

Despite the signing of a “phase one” deal in the US-China trade war, Washington remains locked in a technology war with Beijing, according to Hinrich Foundation Research Fellow Alex Capri. In an interview with The South China Morning Post’s Finbarr Bermingham, Capri said the tech tension could upend global value chains and hurt the ordinary consumer, and that in the particularly sensitive semiconductor sector, decoupling seems almost inevitable.
