Giant plastic interceptor tackles ‘floating landfill’ on Malaysia’s Klang River

A giant solar-powered barge has been deployed in Malaysia’s Klang River, one of the world’s most polluted waterways. The device will aim to sweep up tonnes of plastic waste before it can reach ocean waters. Environmental research indicates that most of the plastic pollution in the world’s ocean got there after floating down rivers.
