Ski mountaineering, on its way to the Olympics

Ski mountaineering is on the programme for the first time this year at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Lausanne. Formerly a means of getting around in the mountains in winter, the practice spread to the leisure sector with ski tours, and has moved on to competition with legendary races such as the Patrouille des Glaciers in Switzerland or the Pierra Menta in France.
