A pigeon trapped by glass-coated kite strings from a local festival was rescued by the fire department in the west Indian state of Gujarat.

The incident took place on January 15 in Vadodara.

Visuals show a group of rescuers from the fire department gather below a building as a bird is seen dangling from a high electric wire adjacent to the structure.

Next, the rescuers place a ladder against the wall of the complex leading to an open balcony.

Two men from the team are then seen scaling the ladder and landing on the balcony as the others prepare a makeshift pole below.

Later, they pass the pole to the men stationed at the gallery, who directs it towards the electric wire.

The men after a few attempts are successfully able to capture the kite string entangling the bird, subsequently looping the twin around the pole.

The pole is then gently brought to the ground where awaiting rescuers take the necessary steps to save the injured bird.

According to the reports, the number of birds getting caught in the glass-coated strings increases during the two days the kite festival runs at Vadodara.
