China is using its economic and diplomatic leverage to silence critics abroad and undermine international human rights systems, according to the 2020 Human Rights Watch world report. The report, which examines about 100 countries, claims that Beijing’s efforts not only suppress the rights of its citizens but extend far beyond it’s borders.
