Makar Sankranti, one of the major festivals of Hindus, will be celebrated on 15 January this year. Makar Sankranti is also considered to be the mahaparva of charity. According to Hindu scriptures, if the festival of Makar Sankranti falls in the evening in any year, it is celebrated the next day. During the winter season, the temperature of the atmosphere gets very low. Because of which many types of diseases start to surround the body. In such a day, things made with jaggery and sesame are eaten and distributed among themselves. This is because sesame and gud provide heat to the body and provide many nutrients. In North India, khichdi prasad is made on this day. Along with the offerings of khichdi, the offerings of jaggery-sesame, revdi, gajak are also distributed among friends.

हिन्दुओं के प्रमुख त्योहारों में से एक मकर संक्रांति इस साल 15 जनवरी को मनाया जाएगा। मकर संक्रांति को दान-पुण्य का महापर्व भी माना जाता है। हिंदू धर्म शास्त्रों के अनुसार यदि किसी वर्ष मकर संक्रांति का पर्व शाम को पड़ता है तो इसे अगले दिन मनाया जाता है।सर्दी के मौसम में वातावरण का तापमान बहुत कम हो जाता है। जिसकी वजह से शरीर को कई तरह के रोग घेरने लगते हैं। ऐसे में इस दिन गुड़ और तिल से बनी चीजें खाई और आपस में बांटी जाती हैं। ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि तिल और गुड शरीर में गर्मी पैदा करने के साथ कई पोषक तत्व भी शरीर को प्रदान करते हैं। उत्तर भारत में इस दिन खिचड़ी का प्रसाद बनाया जाता है। खिचड़ी के प्रसाद के साथ इस दिन गुड़-तिल, रेवड़ी, गजक का प्रसाद भी दोस्तों के बीच बांटा जाता है।
