Tenet-Trailer 2 – 4096×1716 – 80 Mbps – Official Mix – DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, AC3 5.1

A few months ago, I uploaded the first trailer for Tenet, and 6 days later received a notification from Warner Bros. that I was unauthorized to use the materials and was infringing upon their intellectual property rights. At that time, the teaser was only available in theatres and was not released online. This time, Trailer 2 has been released online so I don’t expect any harsh notifications from the studio.

I know that in my facebook post I said I would have this up on Friday, and I almost did. When I finished the 1080p trailers I received the 4K version. So instead of doing two posts I decided to just do one with everything included. There are a few different things with Tenet Trailer 2. The first is that the 1080p version has an aspect ratio of 2.19:1 (1920×876) which is a bit unusual. The 4K versions have a 2.40:1 aspect ratio (4096×1716).

The audio on the 1080p and 4K versions are different. Both are official 5.1 mixes, but the tracks looked to have their polarity (not phase) inverted. This happens sometimes and I do not know what the impact really is on the overall experience. The other difference is the levels are higher on the 4K. Both versions have distortion sounds in the second half of the trailer. This is the way it is supposed to be. Personally, I would not make the choice to deliberately distort audio but that is an artistic choice that I feel many would just assume to be a flaw.

All of the encodes have some banding that is particularly noticeable in one shot. There was very little I could do to eliminate it and it even appeared in the ProRes master. The 80Mbps version is the closest to the master.
