The Witcher Characters comparison. Netflix Series vs The Books.

Descriptions of some characters from the book:

— In The WItcher books Geralt of Rivia was presented as “lanky”, “skinny”, no beard, and full of scar tissue (basically “made of sinews”). Geralt’s voice was described as “unpleasant” and had an ugly, “malicious” smile. Book Geralt might’ve not precisely had the ruggedly good looks that had all the sorceresses swooning. In fact, his appearance, with pale skin, milk-white, loose hair and “odd”, “dark” eyes frightened some people.

— The lady Yennefer of Vengerberg was famous for her beauty, even though she was nearly a century old. Yennefer had locks of curly, raven black hair fragrant with lilac and gooseberry perfume, falling in a cascade of curls on her shapely shoulders. Her face was very pale, triangular in shape with a slightly receded chin. Her eyes were cold and sparkling with a remarkable violet penetrating gaze, in anger blazing with livid, blue-gray fire. Those very eyes also concealed wisdom and imperiousness. Yennefer's nose was slightly long, mouth was pale with thin and slightly crooked, soft, sweet with lipstick, proud lips. On her long and slender neck hung a black marigold with a star made of obsidian sparkling with a multitude of tiny diamonds embedded in it.

— Triss Merigold in the books had blue eyes and chestnut colored hair. She was rather young of age and had natural beauty that she did not need magic to enhance.

— "Triss Merigold, chestnut hair, cheerful, ready to burst into laughter for no reason at all, like a child.
He liked her. It had been mutual".

— Fringilla was a woman with natural grace, green eyes and close-cropped black hair
— "The Lodge – except for Fringilla who was pale as a corpse – shook their heads".

— Eithne, The ruler of Brokilon was wearing a flowing, gauzy, lightgreen gown. Like most dryads she was small and slender, but her proudly raised head, grave, sharp-featured face and resolute mouth made her seem taller and more powerful. Her hair and eyes were the colour of molten silver.

— Foltest was slim and had a pretty - too pretty - face. He was under forty, the witcher thought.

— Eist Tuirseach was described as being a sinewy warrior with a dark face, an aquiline nose, and white teeth. He was also, at least according to Queen Calanthe, noble, knightly, and classy.

— Stregobor always looked as, according to every rule and notion, a wizard should look. He was tall, thin and stooping, with enormous bushy gray eyebrows and a long, crooked nose. To top it off, he wore a black, trailing robe with improbably wide sleeves, and wielded a long staff capped with a crystal knob.

— Istredd looked no older than a well-earned, robust forty.
He had straight, slightly grizzled, shoulder-length hair and numerous wrinkles on his forehead, around his mouth and at the corners of his eyelids. Geralt did not know whether the profundity and wisdom in his benign, grey eyes were natural or brought on by charms. A moment later he concluded that it made no difference.
