Illegal immigrants arrested in Bellville, near Cape Town, South Africa

Army, police and customs officials raided foreign-owned businesses, detaining suspected illegal immigrants near Cape Town.

The raids happened on 12 December in the precinct around the main station in Belville, in the Western Cape.

Officials seized counterfeit goods and checked if owners had registration and residence permits.

Many such raids have been carried out across the country in 2019, resulting in thousands of arrests and deportations.
