Retires From the Airwaves.
The 70-year-old's last airing of
'The Tom Joyner Morning Show' was on Friday.
The program had an audience of nearly eight million
and could be listened to in over 100 markets.
It was the top syndicated urban morning show in the U.S.
Talking with CBS News, Joyner said he
would have stayed on the radio for more money.

According to Joyner, his salary had decreased
in recent years due to declining results.
The radio host's nationally
syndicated program started in 1994.
Originally, the Tuskegee, Alabama, native says his
show was meant to be for African Americans.
In terms of what's next, Joyner says he will continue
to raise money for historically black colleges.
He has helped contribute over $60 million
to such institutions throughout his career
