Australian Opener Joe Burns faced a fullish delivery from Southee and defended it back to the bowler without moving from his crease. Southee collected the ball and threw it back targetting the Stumps. But what made it absurd was that Burns, who got hit on his pads, was static throughout this incident. As Burns stood stunned, Southee went back smiling but was interrupted by an angry Warner, who was at the non-striker’s end.
