Dead at Age 61.
Marie Fredriksson died on Dec. 9
after a 17-year battle with cancer. .
Her management company, Dimberg
Jernberg, confirmed her death in a statement,
reflecting on her “grand musical legacy.”.
Marie leaves us a grand musical legacy.
Her amazing voice -- both strong and
sensitive -- and her magical live performances
will be remembered by all of us who was
lucky enough to witness them, Dimberg Jernberg Management, via statement .
Born in 1958, Fredriksson first achieved
fame as a solo artist in Sweden before
forming Roxette with Per Gessle in 1986. .
The duo achieved international fame with their
single “The Look,” which reached the top spot
on the ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 chart in 1989. .
Their 1987 single, “It Must Have
Been Love,” also became successful
in 1990, after being featured on the
‘Pretty Woman’ soundtrack.
In a statement, Gessle reflected on his
40-year friendship with Fredriksson,
calling her an “outstanding musician”
and a “master of the voice.”.

wonderful friend for over 40 years. I’m proud,
honoured and happy to have been able to share
so much of your time, talent, warmth, generosity

Fredriksson is survived by her
husband, Mikael Bolyos, and their
two children, Josefin and Oscar
