23 green sea turtles found in a fishing boat near the Banggai Islands, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, have been released after being confiscated by police. Dozens of adult turtles are suspected to be the result of smuggling, to be traded in the Bali region.

The video shows the release of the green sea turtles back into the waters of Donggala on Tuesday (December 10) at around 9:20 a.m.

The confiscation of animals protected by the state took place on Tuesday (December 3) in Bone Puso Village, South Bulagi District, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia.

"During a routine patrol, the team searched one of the fishing boats that stopped in the middle of the sea. When inspected, dozens of adult green turtles were found under the floor of the ship boarded by a local fisherman named Roni Liashan," said Director of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police.

The Central Sulawesi Regional Police Headquarters said that of the 23 adult green turtles seized, two of them had died.
